Letter from the Chairman

December, 2011

Dear Presidents-Elect, Executive Directors, Other Club Officers and Guests,

The Rotary Club of Tulsa is excited about the opportunity to host the upcoming 2012 Large Club Conference, on January 29-31, 2012 at the Hyatt Regency Tulsa Hotel. We realize these are challenging times in Rotary. Thus, the choice of our theme--Mission Possible: Building a Better Rotary. Over the course of our time together, we plan to identify ways to continue to grow our clubs in the face of current challenges, benefit from the wisdom of one another’s experience and strengthen the bonds we form between club leadership and staff.

To that end, we plan to meet you at the airport and get you checked in at the conference registration on Sunday. From there the Executive Directors will spend a portion of Sunday afternoon on the administrative details associated with Rotary club operations. Sunday evening we all gather for a welcome reception at the hotel before proceeding to our respective hosted dinners at nearby eateries.

Education sessions Monday and Tuesday morning and afternoon will be devoted to the four topics ranked highest by the pre-conference survey respondents. Guest speakers will get us started on the four topics before we head to breakout sessions and get down to the nitty-gritty. Monday morning we’ll hear from Michael Angelo Caruso, motivational speaker. And for lunch on Tuesday we join our club’s weekly meeting (rescheduled from Wednesday to Tuesday especially for you) where the program will feature a conversation with renowned American business magnate, financier and philanthropist, T. Boone Pickens.

Not to worry…we included social time to get to know each other better in a relaxed atmosphere. Monday evening we’ll get a taste of Tulsa’s exceptional Art Deco architectural history and have a chance to stop by the club’s offices. And Tuesday evening we’ll all let our hair down and experience some of Tulsa’s fantastic music heritage at the Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame. And, there’ll be plenty of breaks to keep up with emails and other activities on the home front.

The preliminary agenda and conference registration instructions are included under other options on this website www.rotarylargeclub.org. Please include your flight plans and photo as you complete your online registration so that we may arrange to meet you.

In the meantime, if I can be of assistance, please contact me at 918-295-7423 or our Executive Director, Donna Mercier, at 918-584-7642. Our respective email addresses are rrenz@spiritbank.com and donna@tulsarotary.com. We look forward to meeting you in person.
